While average golfers typically struggle with multiple aspects of the game, hitting fairway woods off of the ground is especially problematic.
Why is that the case?
According to School of Golf host Martin Hall, fairway wood issues are often related to a lack of understanding about how to execute the shot.
As Hall explains in this video, trying to sweep the ball off the ground, as many players have been taught, is a mistake, while hitting slightly down on the ball and taking a small divot is the actual goal.
If you can make that adjustment when hitting a fairway wood off the deck, you'll see immediate improvement when it comes to accuracy, distance, and trajectory.
